Nous n\u2019avons pas d\u2019information sur l&rsquo;\u00e9poque de sa fondation, mais de pr\u00e9cieuses archives conserv\u00e9es t\u00e9moignent de sa longue et riche histoire, de ses d\u00e9vastations et ses renaissances.<\/p>\n<p>Le monast\u00e8re comprend deux \u00e9glises contig\u00fces, d\u2019\u00e9poques diff\u00e9rentes, fusionn\u00e9es en une unit\u00e9 architecturale unique. L\u2019\u00e9glise la plus ancienne, troglodyte, a \u00e9t\u00e9 construite dans un creux au pied d\u2019une cr\u00eate rocheuse \u00e0 la fin du XII\u00e8me ou au d\u00e9but du XIII\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Elle fut fond\u00e9e pour les besoins des moines ermites, qui recherchaient des endroits calmes, isol\u00e9s, et difficiles \u00e0 atteindre, et utilis\u00e8rent l\u00e0 une grotte peu profonde surplomb\u00e9e par la falaise rocheuse de la colline escarp\u00e9e, o\u00f9 ils organis\u00e8rent un petit monast\u00e8re.<\/p>\n<p>C&rsquo;\u00e9tait un <em>skite<\/em> &#8211;\u00a0lieu de retraite pour asc\u00e8te, qui impliquait le plus haut degr\u00e9 du monachisme et du d\u00e9vouement, qui s\u2019\u00e9tait d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 d\u2019abord \u00e0 Byzance puis propag\u00e9 au moyen \u00e2ge aux autres r\u00e9gions du vaste empire.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;\u00e9glise troglodyte, d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux Saints Archanges, \u00e9tait utilis\u00e9e comme chapelle par les ermites qui vivaient dans les cellules voisines sur la falaise rocheuse, comme en t\u00e9moignent les traces conserv\u00e9es. Les murs de cette \u00e9glise qui est la plus ancienne \u00e9glise de<em> Kovilje<\/em> (\u00e9glise primitive) de dimensions modestes, avait les murs enfouis dans la rocheau nord, et en partie \u00e0 l&rsquo;Ouest et \u00e0 l&rsquo;est, tandis que le reste \u00e9tait construit \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de pierres bris\u00e9es et de mortier de chaux.<\/p>\n<p>La structure de sa demi-arche est port\u00e9e par des pilastres, construits en trois parties sur les parois lat\u00e9rales, ainsi que les arches qui s&rsquo;\u00e9l\u00e8vent au-dessus d&rsquo;eux. Le reste de l&rsquo;espace de la grotte, cach\u00e9 par la chapelle, a \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 comme ermitage \u00e0 en juger par les traces de feu, les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts, les fragments de c\u00e9ramique de chemin\u00e9e, et d&rsquo;autres objets faits de c\u00e9ramique et de m\u00e9taux.<\/p>\n<p>La premi\u00e8re mention \u00e9crite du monast\u00e8re de Kovilje et de son \u00e9glise troglodyte a \u00e9t\u00e9 trouv\u00e9e dans un des ouvrages de Kru\u0161evac datant de 1606 (<em>Kru\u0161eva\u010dki pomenik<\/em>), enregistrant les chroniques monastiques et religieuses. En 1644, Gabriel (<em>Gavrilo<\/em>), M\u00e9tropolite de Ra\u0161ka, d\u00e9couvre l\u2019\u00e9glise partiellement d\u00e9molie et une communaut\u00e9 monastique abandonn\u00e9e. Il le d\u00e9crit dans un document \u00e9critit sur une page de Nouveau Testament en 1651.<\/p>\n<p>Renouvelant ce sanctuaire de vieille Valachie, \u00ab\u00a0le dernier repr\u00e9sentant de la grande \u00e9glise de Pe\u0107\u00a0\u00bb fit le pr\u00e9sent de ce livre \u00e0 la communaut\u00e9 monastique nouvellement \u00e9tablie, parmi laquelle il passa lui-m\u00eame quelques temps dans le monast\u00e8re. Le document indique \u00e9galement que, avec la reconstruction de l&rsquo;\u00e9glise des Saints Archanges, Michel et Gabriel, il a \u00e9galement construit une \u00e9glise d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 Saint-Nicolas. Il a de plus \u00abrestaur\u00e9 certaines des cellules et des moulins et remis \u00e0 disposition la terre du monast\u00e8re qui \u00e9tait abandonn\u00e9e et oubli\u00e9e\u00bb, a achet\u00e9 plusieurs champs et prairies pour les donner \u00e0 cette Fraternit\u00e9. Par sa dotation en tant que patriarche de <em>Pe\u0107<\/em> (1648 \u2013 1655), Gabriel fournit les meilleurs artistes de l&rsquo;\u00e9poque, qui peignirent les murs int\u00e9rieurs des deux temples et d\u00e9cor\u00e8rent d\u2019ic\u00f4nes leurs autels.<\/p>\n<p>Au cours des si\u00e8cles de l&rsquo;occupation ottomane, le monast\u00e8re de<em> Kovilje<\/em> subit les attaques turques, les d\u00e9vastations, les pillages et les destructions. En d\u00e9pit de ces circonstances d\u00e9favorables, pendant les p\u00e9riodes d&rsquo;accalmie, la vie monastique se maintint, et les informations disponibles indiquent qu&rsquo;il existait une \u00e9cole pour l&rsquo;alphab\u00e9tisation et la formation des enseignants, des pr\u00eatres et des moines.<\/p>\n<p>Au d\u00e9but du XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, en l&rsquo;absence de moines, le monast\u00e8re fut converti en \u00e9glise paroissiale. Soumis aux nombreux troubles et conflits arm\u00e9s, aux fuites de la population et aux changements de pr\u00eatres, il fut abandonn\u00e9 \u00e0 la fin du XX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle, victime de la n\u00e9gligence et de l\u2019abandon de ses terres.<\/p>\n<p>Gr\u00e2ce aux efforts de personnes pers\u00e9v\u00e9rantes et engag\u00e9es pour pr\u00e9server des valeurs oubli\u00e9es au d\u00e9but du nouveau mill\u00e9naire, le monast\u00e8re actuel de<em> Kovilje<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit et r\u00e9investi, d&rsquo;abord par des moines puis par des religieuses engag\u00e9es dans la r\u00e9novation de ses lieux saints, la construction de logements et l&rsquo;arrangement du domaine monastique. La reconstruction spirituelle du sanctuaire ancien, cach\u00e9 dans les for\u00eats denses sur les pentes des montagnes <em>Golija<\/em> et <em>Javor<\/em>, permettra la red\u00e9couverte de nombreuses valeurs, alt\u00e9r\u00e9es et oubli\u00e9es au fil du temps, leur c\u00e9l\u00e9bration et leur pr\u00e9servation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Le monast\u00e8re de
